What can I say?  The term so far has been awesome.  I've haven't seen this many people at functions lately in a long time and I am very happy to be the Master Councilor at this time because the more people who attend stuff the more fun the events are.  I've seen some great enthusiasm and I am very proud of all of you.  I honestly believe that this chapter is the best in California.  They might not know it but, Campbell Chapter is back and this is going to be an awesome term.  So far we have had an average of 12.3 DeMolays show up at meetings and this is great.  I'm sure this will continue.  I'm also glad to see that the brotherhood is back and we are working as a team again to have fun.  At the Art Auction we had 11 DeMolays and 5 advisors.  Way to go Campbell!  The last breakfast that we had was great.  I've never seen so many DeMolays at a breakfast before.  We had 11 DeMolays and 3 advisors attend.  Kudos to Jason Martin for a great event.  The Movie Night was also well attended with 9 DeMolays, 3 advisors, and 8 others.  I want to say thank you to all of the people who helped out and attended my Installation.  I hope you all had fun and so far from the people I have talked to, they all had a blast.  As you can see I am very proud of the chapter right now and I think that Campbell Chapter is on to bigger and better things.  Nothing can stop us.  As for the Macy's Day Event, the money is due immediately.  Any person who doesn't turn in their money by Dec. 10th will not qualify for the cash prize for the top sellers.  To make it more interesting I will be bringing out a sheet of paper at this meeting and taking guesses from people on what they think the total income of the Macy's Day is.  Whoever gets the closest will be given a prize, a very nice prize.  So turn in the money because if you don't have your money into me by the 10th you don't qualify for that prize either.  I hope that you are all up to my challenge.  Finally, I want to say again that I am proud of all of the hard work and effort the Chapter has put in so far and I know that it will continue.  Thanks!

The fundraiser for this month is gift check sales.  My goal for us is to sell 150 gift checks.  That is if 15 active members of this chapter would each sell 10 books each.

Also coming up this month is Los Altos Lodge's Installation on the 29th where my father will be installed Worshipful Master and I will be installed Junior Steward.  I encourage as many members as possible to attend, if you don't plan on going down to Pasadena on the 28th.

In other fundraising news, "Aluminum Cans are a hot item on the market.  Hurry up and share the profits with Campbell Chapter.  Three hundred pounds would do a lot of good for the organization."

An idea brought up by me, E-SCRIP, was wisped up by Nor-Cal and announced at Convention.  I brought my plan up at the advisory council meeting in October.  The plans aren't all together yet, but I will bring more details as time goes on.

Thank you for your time,

Jason Martin, (The Ritual God) Senior Councilor

Well, here I am, 2 years older and hopefully a lot wiser.  My aim this term is not only to get in new members, but also to get them involved.  Hang out with the guys and that sort of thing.  Make them feel like they're important.  If we keep new initiates interested then members will stay active.

Sports Theme Breakfast

It was a beautiful day.  The sun was out and there wasn't a cloud in the sky... except for that really big one that seemed to blot out the sun for the rest of the morning.  Unlike many other Sundays, most of us woke up at really early times just to get to the temple on time.  And, unlike most events, most of us go there on time.  Once we entered the building, we found out that the room wasn't reserved for our breakfast.  Though the reservation paper work was obviously at fault, we were told that we would be able to use the room.  Of course, our troubles did not end there.  It was soon noticed that there was variety lacking in our menu.  Luckily, Jason was able to go to the store and buy some fruits for a fruit salad.  After that, we found out that the TV could only receive a few channels.  While I found the Home Shopping Club and Spanish soap opera entertaining, it was just not good enough for the sports theme breakfast.  I forgot where we got them, but we some how we found an antenna and a sports spoofs video, which helped us avoid another problem.  Other than that, the breakfast went smoothly.  I actually got a free meal out of it, so I was happy.  There were eggs, hash browns, pancakes, sausages, and a fruit salad.  A complete meal with all the major food groups represented.  It was also good to know we made a neat profit from the breakfast.

San Jose Visitation

Fellow Brothers,

On November 3rd 1999,Campbell Chapter had an excellent scheduled visitation to San Jose Chapter, Order of DeMolay.  We were able to have six brothers attend their meeting.  They were: Matt Milde, Nick Schilling, Parker Downey, Arthur Cardoza, and myself, Jason Martin.

By having such a great turn out, we were even able to assist San Jose with the opening and closing of their meeting.  This was a great example of what we can do to help out our fellow brothers we visit, and not just visitations, but on every event we go to.  Without our help that night, San Jose would not have been able to open and conduct their regular business meeting.

After the meeting, everyone joined in on a little football, and some card playing in the parking lot.  All in all, the night went very well, and everyone should be looking forward to the next visitation to Santa Cruz Chapter scheduled on December 9th.  It should be a real fun experience to go over to Santa Cruz Chapter, so all of you ritual buffs get up and go get some practice in Santa Cruz.

See you on the 9th.

Jason Martin, (The Ritual God) Senior Councilor

Warriors

On Tuesday, October 12, Nick, Matt, Arthur, Dad Taylor, and I went to the Golden State Warriors VS the Los Angeles Clippers game at the San Jose Arena.  We had pretty good seats - even though we couldn't see the cheerleaders!  They have a strange mascot named Thunder who has a little lightning bolts coming out of the back of his head.  None of us caught any of the T-shirts he shot out of the cannon, but Nick caught one of the mini-basketballs he threw into the stands.  We had a lot of fun and the Warriors even won the game.

San Jose Halloween Dance/Party

Every time there is a holiday we find reasons to put on a dance or a party.  Everyone is guilty of this.  On October 27th Campbell Chapter made their way into San Jose Chapter's "dance party", no relation to Bob Darian.  We have been to all sorts of dances and parties but none quite like this.  When I entered I was shocked to see the cruelty that San Jose Chapter was putting on their guests.  Yes, they were watching a movie.  Not just any movie, but a scary movie.  Not just any scary movie but a really scary movie.  Does such a movie exist?  In my world, yes.  I was scared when I saw "Child's Play".  I was scared when I saw "Fox's Alien Autopsy".  Oh, I was sacred when I saw the Teletubbies.  Yes, the Teletubbies.  They look cute and fuzzy but all you need to do is get them wet and they start to multiply until one day they decide to take over New York.  As you can tell I've seen some scary things, but that movie takes the cake.  I was about to leave when someone showed up with the D.J. equipment.  So, I stuck around.  The only one who seemed to be dancing was Arthur.  Everyone was so jealous of him and Arthur knew that he was the man.  Aw, whom am I kidding, Arthur looked like a fool and we were all laughing at him because the only thing that he was dancing with was a chair.  Yes, Arthur stooped that low and pulled a "Tim".  What does the future hold for such dances and parties?  Who knows?  I can't believe that anyone would try to put a dance this close to Halloween.  Some People.

Chapter Dad

Now that Convention's over we're in the new Nor-Cal year.  We have the potential to have a good year, so let's set our aim at Chapter of the Year.

First and foremost is membership.  That's over one-third of the points.  It's also, incidentally, the most important thing to keep our Chapter in good shape.  We need to initiate at least ten to be in the running.

Second is simply following through on the activities we plan.  It takes planning and execution, but especially work.  Then you do the paperwork...send in the forms to Nor-Cal.

Third is to participate in the Nor-Cal events and programs.  One of the areas we'll need to work in is getting members to complete their R.D.'s and L.C.C.'s.

Chapter of the Year is well within reach.

Congratulations to the chapter on the great financial successes of the Art Auction and the Macy's Project.

Merry Christmas,

"Dad" Taylor

-Nick & Matt

This upcoming year 2000, Nick and I are making a bigger effort to bring you the Champ.  Remember, you can write about anything.  It doesn't have to be DeMolay related it could be about anything.  Let us know about anything that is going on in your life and we will publish it.  Any funny stories or clean jokes that you know, tell us, be creative and we will work with it to make the Champ better for you the reader.  Remember that it is very important that you send us your articles on time.  It makes it so much easier on us.  If you e-mail your articles to Nick at ncschilling@netzero.net or me at MasterThespain@hotmail.com we will get it and put it in the Champ.  In an upcoming Champ we will be making a photo book of nothing but recent and past photos so send us your pictures.  You will get them back.  We have tons of Arthur sleeping but more couldn't hurt.  Well, I hope that you are enjoying the Champ and have a good holiday.
